With an RTL-SDR, SDR# and decoder software, Happysat was able to decode data from the satellite which includes the current Moscow time and various location and telemetry data. Since 1974 there have been 99 Parus satellites launched, but there are only three currently active. These are low earth orbit satellites operated by the Russian Space Forces that are used for military communication and navigation. Happysat has recently been using a RTL-SDR to decode the discontinued Russian Parus (Cosmos) Navigation Satellites.
